With many rumors about Wal-Mart spreading across Downriver, a group of activists have come together to form Wake Up Wal-Mart Downriver. Wake Up Wal-Mart Downriver Joins Together
On Friday, November 23, the Downriver group lead the way in educating their community with an informational picket and hand-billing of holiday shoppers at the Taylor, Michigan Wal-Mart location on Telegraph Road. These Downriver residents are working together to protect and improve their community from Wal-Mart’s negative impact in their neighborhood. Wal-Mart stores hurt local businesses, attract crime, pay substandard wages, and pollute the local environment. Wal-Mart’s record as an employer is just as bad. Wal-Mart is involved in the largest class-action lawsuit in history involving sexual discrimination, has violated countless child labor laws, and hired countless illegal immigrants. This website was set up by a group of Downriver citizens who are concerned about the future of our community. We see what Wal-Mart has done to other cities and do not want to see even MORE empty storefronts Downriver. If you have any other questions of comments, please email us at info@NoDownriverWalMart.org Regular Community Meeting dates can be found on our Get Active Link |
